Garden Of The Gods

We had such beautiful weather the entire past week for fall break that I asked Chris if he can take a day off of work to visit Colorado Springs' main attractions Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls (ein Bach mit sieben Wasserfaellen) and Cave of the Winds (eine Tropfsteinhoehle). He took Monday off.
Sunday we hiked in Castlewood Canyon and of course on Monday it was rainy and cold and windy...not a good day to go to Colorado Springs (we decided to go instead into our Wildlife Museum just up the street - will post pics later).

And of course Tuesday was gorgeous weather again! But we had a doctor's appointment for Jonah and did some other things that today we decided on a whim to go to Garden of the Gods just to see what it looks like. If we would not have gone I would be unhappy with me the rest of the week....so to prevent that, I let hubby know that we were on the way to Colorado Springs!

54 miles and 40 minutes later, we arrived at our destination in very sunny but wind chilled weather. The scenery is just gorgeous but of course it would have been better to see all the other attractions, too and not just drive all this distance just for the Garden of the Gods. I thought that Colorado Springs is a tad closer to Parker actually.. :-)

The entrance already looks quite stunning

Already within the red rocks

not to shabby for a self-timed picture!

Some friendly visitors took this picture of the three of us

The 'balancing rock' is not here, we needed to drive to its location. The road winds around the place we just visited

Here the balancing rock

We had a wonderful, fun-filled day and tomorrow we want to go to the zoo (it's a free day!)
